A.D. Winans-

5 short poems

1

In the haze of early morning
death lurks in the distant shadows
mocking the photo of my father
playing his violin
turning soft notes of life
into chalkboard screams of death
each note falling like hard rain
in the cranial guitar of my mind

11

a dead fly sits on the keyboard
as if waiting to be brought back
to life
my fingers work around it
the computer hums a funeral march
a spider weaves its web
anticipating an early meal

111

all these old songs
dead and buried inside me
lyrics that beg an audience
no one to sing too

IV

the moon mocks my shadow
keeps gaining ground on me
like a child playing leap-frog
with an old man and his cane

V

I stare into silence
empty space has no vision
restless ghosts
eat my words

_______________

RANDOM WORD POEM

snow light warm dream
blue morning woman
Sweet spring spark love
like gentle bird
in green garden mind
